Hello, my name is Cian Shannon and I am 23 years old from Carlow. Currently, I am a final year Bachelor of Business Studies student specialising in Data Analytics at Dublin City University, due to graduate in October 2024 with a 2.1 grade.

During my academic journey I had the privilage to partake in a year-long Erasmus exchange at the prestigious School of Economics and Management at Porto University in Portugal. This experience not only broadened my academic perspectives but also deepened my cultural understanding and desire to travel.

I am currently employed at the Guinness Storehouse as part of the visiter experience team, part-time. Here I work as a bartender, provide guided tours, plan and contol crowds and much more. It was been an enjoyable experience and has helped me further my communication and team work skills as well as my time management skills as I juggle academics and this part-time work.

I have been intrigued by data analytics for quite some time now. My fascination began during my early studies when I first realised the power of data to unlock hidden patterns and insights. This curiosity grew as I delved deeper into business studies, where I saw firsthand how data-driven decisions can transform companies, streamline operations, and boost efficiencies.

Outside of academics and work I am very passionate about sports, soccer in particular. I grew up playing soccer, basketball and gaelic football and these passions have stayed with me. My other hobbies include video games, movies and travelling. I have travelled to four continents now and just love the experience of seeing new cultures.

As I near the completion of my degree, I am eager to delve deeper into the data analytics field. With a robust academic foundation, practical experience, and a genuine enthusiasm for data analytics, I am ready to contribute to and thrive in any data-centric role.
